Step One – Form a Team
- One Adult Team Manager (or co-managers)
- 2 to 7 team members
- Review a description and videos of Challenges here.
- Register the Team Manager contact information . You will automatically be sent an email with further instructions about obtaining a team number and getting the detailed description of the challenge(s) you are interested in.
- ROADMAP (see instructions in email to obtain) provides an example map of how to manage your team.
- Take manager training as available. This really helps to get perspective and simplify the process.
- Your Challenge solutions should take 6 – 10 weeks
- Start by meeting once per week for 60 – 90 minutes.
- Register your team for the tournament, when you know you will be attending, before January 31, 2019 HERE.
- The deadline for registering your team for the provincial tournament is January 31, 2019 for those teams outside the Grande Prairie region who wish to attend and have not yet paid the tournament fee.
- If you are a team from outside the northwest region of Alberta you may wish to attend a tournament in your region instead of the tournament in Grande Prairie. We will be establishing locations and dates for these tournaments based on enrollment and volunteers in these other regions. If you do decide to attend the Grande Prairie tournament you will be required to pay the applicable tournament fee.
- Tournaments are a one day event to show your Challenge Presentation to a team of Appraisers and to take part in the Instant Challenge.
- The tournament fee of $75 for each Rising Star team and $100 for each of the other teams includes lunch for the team members and managers.
- Each team challenge is appraised by a team of volunteers and a rubric provided by DI International.
- Regional tournaments (as available) are held in late February/early March.
- Provincial Tournament will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Riverstone Public School.
- Your team may be eligible to advance to the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee in May of 2019
